South Indian wedding invitation videos

The single thing most template invitations get wrong about a South Indian wedding is the muhurtham. It is not a detail at the bottom of the card — it is the reason the card exists, and it belongs in its own band, set large.

Tamil and Telugu are typeset with correct ligatures and proofed before delivery. Both scripts sit alongside English on the same card without either being reduced to a subtitle.

What a template farm cannot tell you

Getting it right

The wording

A Tamil invitation is a திருமண அழைப்பிதழ் (thirumana azhaippithazh) and the auspicious hour is சுப முகூர்த்தம் (subha muhurtham). A Telugu invitation is a శుభలేఖ (shubhalekha), the wedding వివాహ మహోత్సవం (vivaha mahotsavam).

Both traditions name the grandparents as well as the parents, frequently with the ancestral village. The muhurtham is given with the date, the nakshatra and often the exact minute. Send us the panchangam details as your priest wrote them and we will set them as written.

When to send it, and the sequence

Tamil order: nichayathartham (engagement), panda kaal muhurtham, nalangu, kashi yatra, oonjal, kanyadaanam, the muhurtham itself, and sammandhi mariyathai. Telugu order: pendlikoothuru, snathakam, kashi yatra, jeelakarra bellam at the muhurtham, then talambralu.

Because the muhurtham is often before dawn, guests need lead time to arrange the night before. Send six weeks ahead, and put the arrival time — not just the muhurtham time — on the card.

Motifs that carry meaning

Pulli kolam — drawn around a dot grid in one continuous line that never lifts. Animating it any other way is visibly wrong to anyone who has drawn one.

Gopuram — the temple tower. Reduces well to a mark; overworked, it turns into a tourist poster.

Mango-leaf toran and kuthuvilakku — the doorway hanging and the standing lamp, both markers of an auspicious threshold.

Kanjivaram zari — the woven gold border. Used as a band rather than a background.

Questions

The ones families actually ask

How much does a Tamil or Telugu wedding invitation video cost?
From ₹3,900 for Thaali and ₹4,600 for Kolam, with your details and palette set into the existing artwork. A muhurtham-plus-reception video with photographs typically comes to ₹6,500–₹9,000.
Will the muhurtham time be set correctly?
Yes. Send the panchangam details exactly as your priest wrote them — date, nakshatra, and the hour to the minute — and we set them as written, in their own band, at the size the convention gives them.
Can the card be in Tamil or Telugu and English together?
Yes, and neither is reduced to a caption. Both scripts are set with correct ligatures and proofed before delivery. A bilingual card is ₹1,200 extra.
Can you deliver the same day?
The static version of Thaali can go out the same day. Video versions are 48 hours as standard, or 24 hours for ₹1,200.
