What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it. Written to be read rather than to be survived.
Effective 29 July 2026 · Elegant Invite Cards Services, Kolkata
Who we are
This site is operated by Elegant Invite Cards Services, trading as MakeMyInvite, at 30/3B Chandranath Chatterjee Street, Kolkata 700025, West Bengal, India. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described below, within the meaning of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Contact us about anything on this page at info@makemyinvite.com or +91 97487 78888.
What we collect, and when
We only ask for what we need to quote and make your invitation. There is no account to create, no password, and no sign-up wall anywhere on this site.
| When you reserve a design | Your name, WhatsApp number, email if you give one, the date of your event, and any notes you write. Alongside it we store the design code, the options you selected and the estimate the page showed you. |
| When you message us | Whatever you send us on WhatsApp, email or the phone, including any photographs or documents. |
| When we take on the work | The names, dates, venues, wording and photographs needed to make the invitation. For invoicing, a billing name and address, and a GSTIN if you are claiming input credit. |
| Automatically, in your browser | Designs you save with the heart button are kept in your own browser's local storage. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them. |
| Automatically, on our side | The page you enquired from, the site that referred you, and any campaign (UTM) parameters in the address. Standard server logs including IP address and browser type. |
We do not ask for and do not want your payment card details, bank credentials, government identity numbers, or any sensitive category of personal data. Do not send them.
Why we use it
- To answer you. A quote we can actually stand behind needs the design, the options, the date and a number to reply to.
- To make the invitation. Names, dates, venues and photographs go into the artwork itself.
- To invoice you and meet tax obligations. Invoices must be issued and retained by law.
- To improve what we sell. We look at which designs are reserved and how the estimate shown compares with the price finally agreed. This is analysed in aggregate.
- To send you occasional new designs — only if you ticked that box, and only until you tell us to stop.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not build profiles of you for anyone else.
Your photographs and your event details
Photographs you send us are used to make your invitation and nothing else. We do not publish them as portfolio work, we do not put them in advertising, and we do not pass them to anyone — unless you tell us in writing that we may.
The same applies to your names, your event dates and your venues. If we would like to show your finished invitation as an example of our work, we will ask you first, in writing, and a no costs you nothing.
Who else sees it
A small number of processors, each only to the extent they need:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its server logs.
- WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to talk to us there. That conversation is governed by their privacy policy as well as this one.
- Our email provider, for correspondence.
- Our accountant and the tax authorities, for invoices and statutory records.
- Freelance illustrators and composers we occasionally commission, who receive only the material needed for their part of your job and are bound to confidentiality.
We will disclose personal data where the law requires it, and no further than the law requires.
How long we keep it
| Enquiries that did not become orders | Up to 24 months, then deleted. Families frequently return a season later, and the design code makes that easy. |
| Order records and artwork files | Kept while the relationship is live and for as long as we may need to remake or reissue your invitation. |
| Invoices and tax records | Eight years, as Indian tax law requires. |
| Newsletter subscription | Until you unsubscribe. |
| Server logs | Ordinarily 90 days. |
Ask us to delete something sooner and we will, except where we are legally required to keep it.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:
- ask what personal data of yours we hold and what we have done with it;
- have it corrected, completed or updated;
- have it erased, where we are not required to keep it;
- withdraw a consent you gave — for the newsletter, for instance — at any time;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you are unable to; and
- complain to us, and then to the Data Protection Board of India if we have not resolved it.
Write to info@makemyinvite.com with "Data request" in the subject. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not hand your details to someone else.
Cookies and measurement
This site sets no cookies at all and loads no third-party scripts, trackers or advertising pixels. The only thing stored in your browser is your saved-designs shortlist, in local storage, which never leaves your device.
If analytics is added later, this section must be updated to name the provider, say what it collects, and — where consent is required — ask for it before loading.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging events. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. Where an invitation concerns a child — an annaprashan or a first birthday — the details are provided by a parent or guardian, and we use them only to make that invitation.
Security, and being honest about it
We keep your data on reputable hosted services, limit access to the people working on your job, and do not retain what we no longer need. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.
If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the Act requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
