Bihari Wedding
from ₹5,200
Marwari · Wedding
Marwari weddings run longer than most, and the invitation has to carry a sequence rather than an event. These designs are built to hold six ceremonies without turning into a timetable.
Kolkata has had a Marwari community for two hundred years, and a large share of the studio’s work is for families in Burrabazar, Salt Lake and Alipore who want Rajasthani ornament with a Kolkata wedding’s logistics.

The set made specifically for this tradition is still being added. Any of these can be adapted — and at the Tailored tier the illustration is redrawn around your family entirely.

What a template farm cannot tell you
The card opens with the invocation श्री गणेशाय नमः (Shri Ganeshaya Namah) at the head — this is not decorative, and it goes above everything including the names. The event is शुभ विवाह (shubh vivah) and the invitation is सादर आमंत्रण (sadar aamantran).
The hosts are named with full honorifics and, traditionally, with the family’s gotra and native place. If your family still gives the ancestral town — Bikaner, Churu, Ratangarh — say so, because it changes the hierarchy of the layout.
The run is Ganpati sthapana, pithi dastoor (haldi), mahira dastoor (the maternal uncle’s ceremony), sangeet, nikasi (the groom’s procession out), toran at the bride’s door, the pheras, and mooh dikhai afterwards.
Because the ceremonies spread over four to seven days and guests travel, send the save the date five to six months ahead and the full invitation six to eight weeks before the pheras — earlier than a Bengali wedding, because travel and hotel blocks have to be arranged.
Jharokha — the carved haveli window. Used as a frame, it lets the invitation open through something rather than fade in.
Gota patti — appliquéd gold ribbon. Drawn from real work it has a visible edge and a weave; a gold gradient does not.
Bandhej and leheriya — tied and diagonally-striped resists. Bandhej animates beautifully because it is literally made of points.
Kalash, haathi, mor — the pot, the elephant, the peacock. Auspicious, and expected on the border rather than the centre.
A Marwari wedding is rarely one event and one list. The roka and sagai are often months earlier and family-only; the mehndi and sangeet have their own, wider lists; the baraat and phere are the formal invitation; and the reception may be in another city entirely.
A video set handles the cascade better than printed cards do: each ceremony gets its own card in one matching sequence, in the order the days actually happen, and each can be forwarded to exactly the list it concerns. Tell us which events you are hosting and the set is structured around them.
